Welcome to the City of Citronelle. Our area is served by an eight member police force, a 32
member volunteer fire department, and a
volunteer rescue unit. Three public schools:
elementary, middle, and high; and one private
school. Extraordinary recreational facilities exist
in this fine city: located four miles west of
downtown is the Municipal Park Complex
consisting of . . .
a 100 acre lake for fishing and swimming,
a recreational vehicle park overlooking the lake,
an 18 hole golf course,
a five diamond baseball park,
an amphitheatre,
a disc golf course, and
a public picnic/barbeque area with tables, covered and uncovered.

In War Memorial Park, located on U. S. Highway 45, the City has four tennis courts,
a senior citizen center, a community built $100,000.00 playground, and Gatlin
Football Stadium.
Citronelle has full service library, which dates back to 1893, and a new municipal complex that houses the city hall, police department, and municipal jail. Mobile County has a satellite license and revenue office also located in the municipal complex. Citronelle has a National Guard Armory (659 Wire & Cable Co.) located in the J. E. Turner Industrial Park. Also, in the industrial park, are several manufacturing operations: a galvanizing plant, a molding and trim plant, and a chemical distribution center.
Citronelle is definitely a city on the move, undergoing continuous rejuvenation, thanks to our far seeing Mayor, our City Council members and a very supportive community. Our motto might well be Droit er Avant (Right & Forward). The City also possesses a multitude of small businesses, such as beauty and barber shops, dollar stores, service stations, repair shops, several restaurants, real estate offices, car dealerships, and a newly completed shopping center with a Subway Sandwich Shop, Family Dollar Store, a grocery store, the Citronelle Marketplace. Citronelle supports several service organizations, a Veterans Post, a garden club, a Kiwanis club, and other charitable organizations. The former railroad right of way has been developed into a Rails to Trails area for walking, biking, running, and horseback riding. |
